This sober yet very romantic raga should be performed late at night. One facet of Indian Classical music and a supreme test of musicianship is the ability to combine melodic features from two ragas to evolve a third. In this recording Kiranpal combines two parent ragas Malkauns and Darbari to create Kaunsi Kanhra with the assurance and virtuosity expected from a master.
