Sant Ranbir Singh is a versatile artist who have mastered not only the art of singing but playing many musical instruments as well. He is one of the new generation of Namdhari musicians who have the good fortune of leaarning from many masters. His dedication and hardwork means that the ‘Gurmat Sangeet’ will continue to flourish. Here is a collection of some of his shabads in the unique style of ‘Gurmat Sangeet’ during his his recent visit to UK.

Raga Rock

Raga Rock is a genre of music which is a mixture of Indian and American influences. Raga Rock is a very accessible genre which traces its roots back to the 1960s. 

David Courtney PhD has played all over the world and is acclaimed for his skills . He have spent a lot of time in India and learned tabla from great masters. He has great respect for its tradition as well.   

Chandrakanth has a lively and lovely voice and combined with classical music -  is a great pleasure to listen to. She is a teacher, performer and active promoter of Indian culture.   

Gus Busbee has been recoganised as a musician with the unique ability to fuse many musicals forms such as blues, jazz, mystic chants and Indian raagas etc.   

Bob Goldman already conversant with western classical was fascinated with the indian traditional music. He also teaches Flute and Bansuri .   

Srinivas Koumounduri is a great master on sitar. He  gives an extra dimension to this group.

Rimpa Siva

Princess Of Tablas

Born on January 14th 1986 in a family with musical heritage, Rimpa Siva now only 14 stands high amongst the greats in the Indian Classical musical scene.         

She showed signs of promise at the tender age of 3, when instead of playing with dolls and toys she took keen interest in the art of tabla playing. She learned from her father and guru Prof. Swapan Siva, disciple of Late Ustad Keramatullah Khan of Farukkabad Gharana.   

She proved her mettle at several notable functions in Calcutta, other places in India and all over the world. She preformed at Netaji Indoor Stadium (1996) on the occasion of centenary of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose organised by Sports and Yuba Welfare Dept of West Bengal Govt. She participated in the 25th I.T.C Sangeet Samelan in Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai and Allahabad organised by Sangeet Research Academy. She has also performed in Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Bhopal, Bangalore and Maihar.   

She won scholarships from Salt Lake City Musical festival and West Bengal State Music Academy in 1995. She was awarded a cash prize in 1996 by Arun Land Rej Memorial Fund of Norway for her superb performance. She was invited to Netherlands in 1997 to participate in the World Child Festival. She also performed in USA. In 1998 a documentary was made on her life “Rimpa Siva – Princess Of Tablas” by French TV. She performed in Biswa Banga Samelan to celebrate the new Millennium.    

During her recent visit to UK, she performed in front of many music maestros to great acclaim. Her performance was electric and stunned the audience – who were mesmerised by this charming Princess Of Tablas.

Rajan Ke Raja

n historic occasion from a music learning session is preserved in this unique CD. The art of teaching classical music by masters and learning by students has been captured in its full glory. It shows how it takes hours of practice to learn the basics  and  even  more  to master the classical raagas.           

Rajan Mishra Ji is a master vocalist who has carved a very high place in classical musical scenario. He has great respect and admiration for Sri Satguru Ji. During his concerts he has performed some of the bandishen learned from Sri Satguru Ji. Rajan Mishra Ji along with his brother Sajan Mishra Ji takes a keen interest in Namdhari Music Academy students and teaches them the finer points of music.

These priceless pieces of compositions were recorded at Ustad Vilayt Khan Sahib residence in Brunswick New York in 1997. Ustad Ji is a devotee and has  great admiration  and  respect  for  Sri Satguru Jagjit Singh Ji. He has donated his personal musical  instruments  to  the  Namdhari Music Academy.    

The excellent music quality from this classical CD is self evident.  Ustad Ji was more than pleased to have an audience with Sri Satguru Ji and was rewarded with some of the bandishen from a wide range which  are  at  the  disposal  of  Namdhari Musicians.          

More bandishen are also included from another sangeet samagham held in Birmingham UK in 1997.
