Namdhari Vara  (Aasa Di Var)

In the presence of His Holiness

Sri Satguru Jagjit Singh Ji

In Nairobi - Kenya

by  Sant Dyal Singh Ji

accompanied by   Namdhari Jatha – Kenya

“Vara” - A unique style ‘Aasa Di Vaar’ - developed and mastered by Namdhari Jathedars using ‘dholak’ and ‘chhaney’. It is a highly electric and emotional rendering of Gurbani – in the early hours of the morning – concluding with the first ray of sunrise. It has a profound effect on the audience. “Vaara” has become part of the Namdhari music culture.

Sant Dyal Singh Ji and his 3 brothers were personally blessed by Sri Satguru Partap Singh Ji - Who used to call them full Vaara when they came together and half  vaara when he came on his own. He was part of the entourage during Sri Satguru Partap Singh Ji’s first visit to East Africa.

Sant Dyal Singh Ji - a well known intellectual and scholar  - has served Namdhari cause all his life - leads the Namdhari Jatha in this version of ‘Vaara’
